Editorial Policy
This site exists because most English-language information about Korea is either outdated or written from the outside. So it seems fair to explain exactly how it is made.
How I verify things
Every article has a Last verified date at the top. That is the date I last checked the prices, opening hours, and procedures in it — not the date I first wrote it.
For anything with a number attached — fares, admission, opening times, visa rules — I check against one of these, in order of preference:
- The operator's own Korean-language site (Korail, city governments, the venue itself)
- Korean government sources (Ministry of Justice, Korea Tourism Organization, Statistics Korea)
- Korean-language news, when the change is recent
I check Korean sources first, not English ones. This matters more than it sounds. English-language guides to Korea copy each other, and errors propagate. A well-known example: several English guides describe Seomun Night Market in Daegu as opening every evening. It does not — it runs Friday to Sunday. That information has been wrong in English for years while being correct in Korean the whole time.
If I cannot verify something, I say so rather than guess.
When things go out of date
Korea changes fast. Fares go up, apps get redesigned, rules get replaced.
- Articles about prices, transport, and government procedures are reviewed at least every six months
- Articles about places are reviewed annually
- If you tell me something is wrong, I check it that week
If you ever find an article where the Last verified date is more than a year old, treat it with suspicion and please let me know.
How this is written
I am Korean. English is not my first language.
I work with an AI writing assistant to produce clear English. Here is the division of labour, honestly:

No article publishes without my review. The opinions are mine. The mistakes are mine too.
I am telling you this because a lot of sites now use AI and do not mention it. I would rather you know.
Photos and images
- Photographs are either my own, or licensed from public sources — most often the Korea Tourism Organization photo gallery, released under Korea's KOGL Type 1 open licence. Those images are credited.
- Diagrams, maps, and infographics are made by me.
- AI-generated illustrations are used only for concepts and decoration — never to depict a real place, a real dish, or a real person. Every AI-generated image is labelled as such.
I will never show you an AI image of somewhere and let you think it is a photograph. That would undermine the only thing this site has going for it.
Money
Right now this site carries no advertising and no affiliate links.
When that changes, it will change like this:
- Advertising will be clearly ads, and there will not be many
- Affiliate links will be disclosed at the top of any article containing them
- Sponsored content will be labelled at the top, and will still include what I did not like
No amount of money changes a recommendation. If a place is not good, I will say it is not good.
Corrections
When I get something wrong, I fix it and note the correction at the bottom of the article with a date. I do not quietly edit and pretend it never happened.
